This weekend in Saskatoon there will be a couple of fundraisers for earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. I thought I’d write about it for those who may be interested. I know a lot of people don’t really read the newspaper, so the tiny article is easily overlooked (at least it was in my case, my mom had to point it out to me).
On Friday you can learn origami at a workshop in the Global Connections Lounge at the University of Saskatchewan, the workshop will run from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. For those who may not know, origami is the Japanese art of paper folding (you would most likely recognize the origami crane). At 8:30 Saturday night at Louis’ Pub on campus, there will be a 19+ event with 10 acts (including a Japanese sword and martial arts performance). Tickets for the event are $10, doors open at 8:00 p.m.
Please refer to page A10 of today’s Saskatoon Star Phoenix (Thursday, March 31) for more information.
If you cannot attend, but would like to donate, you may refer to my previous post “Quake” to learn how.
